Modern History Study Day

Today I went to the city to learn about the Western Front in WW1. It was really good and interesting because the speaker knew so much and was really good at communicating what he wanted us to learn and get out of the day.

Shrapnel shells, howitserzs, trench warfare, tactics and all the generals in command of their forces.

First time the Aussies and U.S fought together in battle, they were under the command 0f Monash the Aussie commander.

And Curry the Canadian general - made a stand against the British General Haig. - After the offensive that was launched by Canadian and Aussie force Haig said to press the attack when the forces were starting to meet some resistance. Curry said to Haig 'No. We will not press the attack, men will be killed and little gained.' Haig told him again to press the attack; but Curry remained steady and said no, and he said that if you continue to order me to attack I will talk to my government and tell them to pull my troops out. This is because while Haig was in charge and in a real powerful position Curry was in control of his troops. So Haig went 'oh ok no need to get so upset' and so the troops were pulled out and attacked another position. and through this the secret to winning the first world war was discovered.
I thought that was cool. Canadians rock!

music is good. i like music. bass is fun, thouroughly enjoyed it on Sunday night in band. But apparently I shouldn't sit down, people didn't like that.

Oh and I would really like to see more people reading my blog, really would, cos currently no one does. Oh well, what are you gonna do?

Teachers go on strike tomorrow as well as a lot of other public servants. Someone called what people are doing tomorrow as illegal, and they shouldn't go off the job unless their bosses are ok with it. But the way I figure it is that the employees bosses that let them go off the job in the morning have nothing to fear from those bosses, the ones that don't let them go off work are the ones that will reduce wages and sack people under unfair grounds.

Australia has a lot of interesting things going on in the government at the moment, some policies are really not immpressive; on the grounds that many people seem to have a very big problem with them. John Howard and many people with a lot of influence in the area of these laws have a lot to think about and a lot to consider. I just wonder what their motives are for the laws they are trying to push through.

But none the less Paul had some wise words:
"Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceful and considerate and to show true humility toward all men."

Titus 3:1-2
